Yes. We directly bill insurance. However, it is your responsibility to know the coverage. 

Yes. We can perform eye exams for children as young as 6 months old. We do recommend a second eye exam between the ages of 2 to 3 years old.

Children should undergo their first exam at six months old, second exam before the age of 3 and yearly exams after that.

Seniors (65+) are covered by OHIP once every 18 months. However, advanced screening via OCT, fundus photography, and corneal topography is not included for patients and will incur a charge.

Most patients will be recommended to dilate their eyes, especially if you are a high myope (greater than -6.00) or have any systemic diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure or high cholesterol. However, if you would like to forgo the dilation at your appointment please discuss this with the optometrist.

IPL is recommended for patients with dry eye disease, ocular rosacea, or meibomiam gland dysfunction not adequately controlled with more conservative treatment. Patients with a Fitzpatrick skin type I–IV can be treated with IPL. We confirm candidacy at your dry eye consultation, since some medications, recent sun exposure, and pregnancy mean waiting or taking a different route.You will need at least four sessions to feel a real difference. Reduction of redness and improved skin appearance may be a side effect of the procedure.

Each session combines three steps. We begin with intense pulsed light to calm the inflammatory vessels driving the problem. We then introduce radiofrequency to gently warm the eyelids and soften the hardened oil inside the glands. We finish with manual expression, clearing the glands so they can start producing healthy oil again. Plan for about an hour in the office, with roughly 40 minutes of active treatment.
